Certification in South Carolina costs $195.00, takes 27.5 hours (7.5 online + 2 days in person), and requires you to be 15 and swim 300 yards.

Successfully complete the swimming, treading, and brick retrieval benchmarks on Day 1.
Engage in intensive in-water training with professional instructors, focusing on real-world scenarios, spinal injury care, and complex victim recovery.
Pass the final written exams with a score of at least 80%. Digital, 2-year OSHA-compliant certification is issued shortly thereafter.

While hiring requirements vary by employer, many aquatic facilities prefer candidates with current Lifeguarding, CPR, AED, and First Aid certifications from nationally recognized training organizations.
Upon successful completion of the course, students earn a nationally recognized lifeguard certification that includes training in CPR, AED, and First Aid.
